In My Backyard (IMBY) was a web-based solar simulation tool and meant to introduce homeowners and business owners to the possible benefits of renewable energy. IMBY provided an easy-to-use interface to estimate the hour-by-hour amount of electricity produced by a photovoltaic system over a year.
NOTE: IMBY has now been incorporated into the revised PVWatts tool.
NREL's PVWatts Calculator, a web application developed by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), estimates the electricity production of a grid-connected roof- or ground-mounted photovoltaic system based on a few simple inputs. To use the calculator, you type the address or geographic coordinates of the system's location, specify the system size and array orientation, and provide some information about the system's cost and electricity rates. PVWatts calculates estimated values for the system's annual and monthly electricity production, and for the monetary value of the electricity.
NOTE: IMBY as a stand alone application is no longer supported.
