DanWEC Nissum Bredning

DanWEC manages a small scale inshore facility at the rough west coast of Nissum Bredning at the Limfjord in Jutland. This test site is well suited for 1:5-10 scale experiments. Significant wave heights at this site are between 0.1 and 1.0 m. The water depth is between 1 and 5 m, the resource is less than 1 kW/m and the maximum significant wave height is about 1-2 m. More than 30 scaled WECs have been tested at the site, presenting a long research history of wave energy innovation and development. The facility consists of a 5 m x 7 m working platform, built at 3.5 m depth of water and connected to the beach via a 140 m long and 1 m wide pier. The platform is equipped with a technical container, in which there is measuring equipment for registration of wind speed, wind directions, air temperatures and wave height. In the container there is also a working table with a vice, and the most normal tools. The Platform is equipped with: a hand served 2½ m high crane, which has a lifting capacity of 600 kilos. A mobile working grating can be lowered below the water surface. There is also a visiting house onsite.
