Marine Energy Devices
This database defines devices as units that harness energy from waves, currents, temperature gradients, or salinity gradients. Developers are designing and iterating on a wide variety of device designs as the industry seeks to identify designs that are cheaper, more resilient, and more environmentally friendly. Some devices have only been tested at small scales, but many have undergone rigorous sea trials and generated power to the grid. This database attempts to track all marine energy devices that have been developed around the world. Clicking on a device will bring up more information, including links to projects that deployed the device and organizations that developed the device. There are currently a total of 374 devices in the Marine Energy Projects Database.
