PB150 Off Coast of Invergordon

Ocean Power Technologies tested their full scale PB150 PowerBuoy off the coast of Invergordon Scotland April 15th 2011. Once in the water the device was monitored for how the structure and mooring system responded to motion from the waves. At the same time, electronics onboard simulated a grid connection to simulate full commercial testing of the device and how power would be produced from device. Over the course of its deployment engineers confirmed the device produced peaks of power at 400 kW and averaged 45 kW at wave heights as low as 2 m. The deployment lasted for a total of six months.
