Hpa An
New Energy’s hydrokinetic platform on the Thanlyin River in Myanmar, now powers a school at Hpa An. The two systems are anchored to the river bottom, and a power cable run to shore. The system includes battery storage and the ability to provide peak power of up to 20 kW. Initially intended as a 3 week demonstration, the effectiveness of the service convinced the village to operationalize the system and displace diesel power generation. Additional orders and installations are anticipated in the region with the success of this pilot.
