Baishakou Tidal Barrage Power Station
The Baishakou Tidal Barrage Power Station is a tidal barrage located at Baishakou, Rushan County, on the southern coast of Shandong Peninsula, Shandong Province, China. The power station reservoir is enclosed by the lagoon at the top of Baishakou Bay, and single-reservoir, one-way power generation was constructed. There were 6 units installed, with a total designed capacity of 960kW, and the designed annual power generation was 2.31 million kW·h. The construction of the power station started in 1970 and the hydraulic structures were basically completed by the end of 1973. On August 1, 1978, units 1 and 2 were put into operation, and on September 1, 1987, all 6 units were put into operation. The station became seriously silted after decades of operation, and marine biofouling and corrosion issues persisted throughout its use. Overall efficiency of the power station dropped accordingly, although it remained operational until 2007 when the power station was decommissioned.
