Yourbrook Energy Systems Tidal Hydro System
Tidal power is considered an intermittent power source as tide activity slows to a halt at high and low tide cycles as the tides reverse direction. In looking at the complete predictability of tidal flows, Yourbrook began to develop a concept that would create firm (continuous) power from an intermittent tidal power source by designing a unique pump storage system that would meet islands’ needs. The result is a dual generation and storage system that utilizes hydraulic generation as tides push a "water wheel" to pump water uphill to later spin a hydro turbine in ebb tides. This generates consistent electricity to remote grids.
