Wave Dragon
The Wave Dragon is a floating overtopping wave energy converter with no moving parts, except for the turbine generators. As waves approach the wave dragon, water overtops a double-curved ramp and flows into a reservoir that is open to the ocean at the bottom. The overtopping water is then guided through a set of hydro turbines which are used to produce electricity. The technology is scalable and it can be can be deployed as a single unit, or in arrays of up to 200 units. The Wave Dragon is also suitable for operating in combination with wind turbines in hybrid platforms of 5 different unit sizes: 3 – 8 – 14 – 24 – 38 MW per unit (half wave/half wind power capacities, only the wave capacity is listed on this page's summary table).
