Snapper Wave Energy Converter
The “Snapper” device was originally proposed by the UK National Renewable Energy Centre Limited (Narec), now Decerna. The movement principle of “Snapper” considers a device which operates using short bursts of faster movement rather than a continuous slower movement. The device is designed to work like atypical linear generator, where the central translator is mounted with magnets and driven by a buoy. Electricity is then generated in the surrounding armature coils.
