Proteus AR3000

Proteus Marine Renewables (PMR), formerly the tidal engineering arm of SIMEC Atlantis Energy (SAE), has been improving upon the design of the AR-series tidal turbines since 2009. The AR-series system is a modular system, allowing broad flexibility in supply chain and assembly options, designed for safe, fast and efficient installation.

With a 24 m diameter rotor and a power rating of 3 MW, the AR3000 is designed to take full advantage of the large energy potential of the high flow sites in Europe and the UK. The control system uses advanced algorithms that actively control the speed and the blade pitch angles to control against waves, turbulence, and extreme storm conditions to minimize loads and obtain a smooth power output. The blades are of advanced composite design for optimal strength and hydrodynamic performance.
