DPR25

The The DPR25 is a 25 kW device that consists of a floating structure with two-cross-flow tidal turbines positioned on either side of a flow accelerating ‘bluff body’. The shape of the bluff body coupled with the patented ‘Blade Pitch Control System’ accelerates the flow of water into the turbines resulting in higher power outputs. Operation is possible in water depths greater than 2 m and the turbine self starts at 0.6 m/s. Conveniently, the whole system can be broken out for transportation and can be configured to fit on ferries and different trucks as needed. The largest component is 6 x 2.5 m and the crane load of the whole system is 9 tons. From 2018 - 2020, the CDR25 was tested at the SEENEOH test site. The turbines ran as required during the tests and achieved 33% efficiencies. DesignPro Renewables also offers a larger 60 kW device, DPR60. The DPR turbines are based off of technology licensed from GKinetic

The device offers many benefits including:
  • Two patented concepts that enable more power to be harnessed from the flow.
  • Compact design for a quick, simple deployment.
  • Option to easily relocate the device as it is not permanently fixed.
  • Optimized safety features for the ecosystem and operators.
  • Easy-access platform, allowing year-round O&M procedures.
  • Quick and cost-effective blade replacement and repair.
  • Ability to raise turbines from the access platform without removing the device.
  • Remote monitoring for live performance and power generation data.
