Overview

The purpose of the Smart Grid Information Clearinghouse (SGIC) portal is to provide information on the smart grid including demonstration projects, case studies, standards, legislation, policy and regulation, lessons learned and best practices, and research and development work. It collects smart grid resources scattered around the web into one centralized location. Resources on this site can inform a community's smart grid vision, plan, and goals for implementing smart grid technologies, provide sample standards and policies related to smart grid, and provide examples of how other communities are implementing smart grid projects. This portal is run by Virginia Tech under funding from the Department of Energy.

Highlight

The SGIC portal is a comprehensive site that describes what the smart grid is, gives examples of smart grid projects, and provides lessons learned based on the experiences of other communities. Users can also find legislations and regulations related to the smart grid that may be helpful in developing policies in their own community.
