OEDI SI/About

From Open Energy Information

ABOUT

Vision

High deployment of distributed solar generation requires innovative scalable solutions under diverse grid topologies and conditions. OEDI SI provides access to testing data, reference algorithms and standard metrics to power systems analysis research community so that researchers can verify their approaches are replicatable, accurate, robust, and scalable.

Goals

Provide a repository for:

  • Curated, synchronized, and integrated input data coming from different power OT & IT systems
  • Reference power systems analysis algorithms and their results under different input conditions
  • Standard metrics verifying algorithms’ robustness and scalability

Approach

Provide an architecture to enable users:

  • To access a single library down to their local workstation
  • To access a powerful data pre-processor and “what-if” editor to simulate different conditions
  • To share their algorithms and data with other researchers

Expected Outcomes

  • Use cases that represent different numerical analysis challenges in singular condition
  • Scenarios that cover a diverse set of “what-if” solutions and algorithms using physics and ML-based approaches
  • Reference outputs and standard metrics

Who is involved?

Currently, OEDI SI is still being developed by a collaboration of four National Laboratories and is being funded through a 2022 Lab Call Program by DOE/SETO Systems Integration.
