Policy Analysis System (Polysys)
POLYSYS is a modular economic simulation modeling system of the U.S. agriculture sector in which planning decisions are made at the Agricultural Statistics District (ASD) level and crop demands and market prices are solved at the national level. The integrated livestock sector is also solved at the national level. Fourteen crops are included in the modeling system: corn, grain sorghum, oats, barley, wheat, soybeans, cotton, rice, peanuts, sugar cane, sugar beets, dry beans, alfalfa hay, and other hay. Five livestock commodities are also endogenous to the system, including beef, pork, broilers, turkeys, and milk. POLYSYS simulations are anchored to a baseline of projections such as those estimated by FAPRI, the U.S. Department of Agriculture or the Congressional Budget Office.
