Notes
Geochemical Sampling of Thermal and Non-thermal Waters in Nevada, Shevenell and Garside. The objective of this project is to obtain geochemical data from springs (and some wells) for which data are not publicly available, or for which the analyses are incomplete, poor, or nonexistent. With these data, geothermometers are being calculated and a preliminary assessment of the geothermal potential and ranking of the sampled areas is being conducted using the new geochemical data. Objectives changed slightly in 2004. Samples are now being collected at sites identified by other components of the Center's geothermal research as having high potential for geothermal development. These samples are being collected to support more detailed work and assessment at those sites. (e.g., Buffalo Valley and Rawhide-Fairview Peak).
