Notes

The US Department of Agriculture conducted the initial geochemical analysis of the Chena Hot Springs in 1917 and also collected observations regarding the geological setting of the Chena Geothermal Area. The study noted a granitic formation in the vicinity of the springs, with schist present on the higher slopes. The granite appeared to be intrusive into the schist.
