The Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Authority was created to encourage economic development in the Alleghany Highlands. The Authority provides financial support for the purchase of real estate, construction of buildings for sale or lease, installation of utilities and any other support improvements it deems necessary, including flood control dams, and for direct loans and grants to private for-profit basic employers. The Authority also administers a business incubator program in the region.
