Vermont Agency of Natural Resources

Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) houses the Department of Environmental Conservation, Fish and Wildlife Service, and the Forest, Parks, and Recreation Department. Each department contributes to mobilizing the overall ANR mission.

ANR Mission

“To preserve, enhance, restore and conserve Vermont's natural resources, and protect human health as it relates to the larger environment. Through its programs, the DEC manages water and air quality, regulates solid and hazardous wastes, and administers a number of pollution and waste reduction programs.”

Department of Fish and Wildlife

Mission

“To protect and conserve our fish, wildlife, plants, and their habitats for the people of Vermont.”

State Parks

The state park service has 34 permanent staff and 250 seasonal staff to provide visitor services. In 2015, the state park system had 1,017,117 visitors. Most park visits occur during the day.
