Ukraine-Capacity Building for Low Carbon Growth

"Due to economic decline following the break-up of the Soviet Union, Ukraine's greenhouse gas emissions are currently 54% lower than in 1990. At the same time, the Ukrainian economy remains among the most carbon intensive globally. Therefore the project aims to assist Ukraine in developing a long-term low carbon development strategy, focusing on achieving economic growth and avoiding concomitant increase in greenhouse gas emissions. The integrated approach of the project will allow the utilization of appropriate decision-making tools which increases the Ukrainian government’s overall institutional capacity to design and implement climate change policies and improved and adequate measures."
