Exploration Activity: Reflection Survey At Blue Mountain Geothermal Area (Fairbank Engineering Ltd, 2003)

Exploration Activity Details
Location Blue Mountain Geothermal Area
Exploration Technique Reflection Survey
Activity Date 1990 - 1990
Usefulness useful
DOE-funding Unknown

Exploration Basis
This survey was originally carried out as part of an effort to locate precious metals. The survey was designed to locate silicified or argillic alteration zones and faulting down to depths of 300 m. The interpretation of the data later contributed to locating the drilling site for the first observation well, Deep Blue No. 1.

Notes
Utah Geophysical Inc. conducted a high resolution seismic reflection survey. The profiles were widely spaced and oriented normal to the range front faults. Interpretations of the data have been implemented into current structural models and indicated steeply dipping faults that become less steep with increasing depth.
