Remote Expert Assistance on LEDS

The Low Emission Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership provides timely, high-quality, no-fee technical assistance to developing countries on LEDS analysis, energy, finance, transportation, and waste issues. Experts from international institutions around the world are available to provide objective advice, reviews and brief assessments, and data collection and recommendations on sources of longer-term support for developing countries.

Who is eligible for assistance?

The Remote Expert Assistance on LEDS (REAL) service supports requests from developing country LEDS teams, including from government agencies or initiatives and from consultants, technical institutions, and NGOs working directly with countries to plan and implement their LEDS. We ask countries that are not already members of the LEDS GP to join the partnership to receive this service. Countries may submit multiple, successive requests, including follow-on inquiries.

What types of assistance are available?

Assistance that supports development of LEDS strategies and programs:

  • Review draft strategies
  • Analyze optional measures or analytic approaches
  • Compile data and information
  • Share approaches that other countries have conducted
  • Facilitate links with peers
  • Share lessons learned and best practices from experiences across countries
  • Advise and provide links to programs that can provide more in-depth assistance

How do I submit a request?

Send an email to Bethany Speer (Bethany.Speer@nrel.gov), who will initiate a conversation within two business days, and an expert will contact you shortly thereafter.
