The Hydroelectric Design Center is the U.S. Army Corps of Engineer’s national center of expertise in hydroelectric and large pumping plant engineering services, supporting 75 hydropower plants across the country. The Hydroelectric Design Center performs planning, engineering, and design; maintains expertise; and develops standards for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hydropower facilities and large pumping plants.

Western Area Power Administration is a power marketing administration within the U.S. Department of Energy that’s responsible for selling and delivering hydropower from 57 federal hydroelectric dams to about 700 utilities and not-for-profit organizations in 15 central and western states. WAPA also owns, operates, and maintains a more than 17,000-circuit-mile high-voltage transmission system that is integrated into the Western Interconnection electric grid.
