Summary

The Indiana Office of Energy and Defense Development offers a grant to non-profit, commercial or public organizations who want to study the feasibility of producing energy from biomass resources. The purpose of this grant program is to fund the development of technically and economically feasible biomass energy systems. This grant will cover up to 50% of the costs associated with conducting a feasibility study for biomass energy systems, up to $25,000. These feasibility studies will serve as a foundation for applications for federal farm bill funding through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Section 9006 program.

This grant is particularly interested in applications of anaerobic digestion and gasification. Other applications will be eligible for funding under this grant, but the targeted technologies will be given preference. Studies that investigate the use of the following biomass resources as alternative energy sources are eligible for funding under this grant: Manure Wood Waste Offal Food Processing Waste Agricultural Co-products Other Biomass resources

Applications for this grant are due September 5, 2007. All money associated with this feasibility study should be spent after September 21, 2007, and all grant funds should be used by May 31, 2008. A final report on the study's progress is due on January 31, 2008. More guidelines for this grant and the grant application can be found at the program website above.
