Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN)
(Redirected from UK Climate and Development Knowledge Network (CDKN))
Who We Are
The Climate and Development Knowledge Network is managed by an alliance of organisations led by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC), and including Fundación Futuro Latinoamericano, INTRAC, LEAD International, the Overseas Development Institute, and SouthSouthNorth. The team brings together a wide range of experience across the fields of climate change and development, research, policy development, knowledge management, networking and capacity-building, as well as substantial expertise in the management of global initiatives.
The Climate and Development Knowledge Network is funded over an initial five-year period by the UK Department for International Development (DFID).
Where The Network Fits
There are many institutions and individuals working on climate and development issues, with new initiatives launched almost every week. The CDKNetwork will work within this emerging landscape, linking with other initiatives and targeting our services to fill the most important gaps.
What makes the Network distinctive is its:
- demand-led agenda, informed by active engagement at the country level
- integrated approach, bringing climate and development analysis together to chart climate compatible development solutions
- high standards, bringing the best research evidence to bear in ways that supports decision-makers in delivering practical change on the ground
- emphasis on helping build capacity and strengthen networks for the longer term
The services provided by the Climate and Development Knowledge Network will be demand driven, and guided by needs and knowledge gaps at the country level. The plan is to engage sequentially in a total of 60 developing countries over the first five years.
Our country engagement will start with a ‘national diagnostic’ process. This will provide a short, sharp review of current knowledge, capacity and policy priorities in each country on climate change and development. This will include multi-stakeholder consultation to develop an agreed strategic approach for the Network’s country engagement.
Our Regional Directors in Africa, Asia and Latin America will coordinate this country engagement process.
