* Basin Electric’s system-wide Avian Protection Plan will be implemented to minimize impacts on nesting birds, as well as to minimize the electrocution and collision of migratory and resident bird species. The Avian Protection Plan includes design provisions for adequate distance between conductors and distances between conductors and grounded surfaces to minimize electrocution risk. It also includes methods for minimizing bird collisions, such as line marking techniques, developed in accordance with recommendations contained in the most recent Avian Power Line Interaction Committee publication “Reducing Avian Collisions with Power Lines, State of Art in 2012”. The Avian Protection Plan follows guidelines described at www.aplic.org.
