Smart Grid Security

From Open Energy Information

A Good Start To A Long, Ongoing Process Securing the Smart Grid is perhaps one of the biggest challenges we face as we move forward with deployment. While the early stages of deployment may have had less emphasis on security, this is certainly not the case today. The US Government has partnered with private industry to address the challenges, and organizations such as FERC, NERC, NIST, DHS, and DoD are reaching out to security experts worldwide for assistance. Utility companies have created teams solely dedicated to securing the Smart Grid, and are constantly evaluating their efforts to ensure continued success. Securing the Smart Grid, much like securing our nation, will be an ongoing effort. We will improve our abilities in this endeavor as we continue to focus the minds of the best and brightest on this effort.
