San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E) offers incentive programs for businesses looking to improve their energy efficiency. In addition to technical advice, SDG&E provides Energy Efficiency Business Rebates (prescriptive and custom) and interest-free financing to cover the remaining costs.

The Energy Efficiency Business Rebates can help pay for business, industrial and agricultural retrofits for customers that have a monthly electrical demand of at least 100 kilowatts. Rebates are available for lighting improvements, refrigeration, natural gas technologies, food service or other improvements. Contact the utility for information on the maximum allowable incentive. More information and program details can be found in the program handbook. Similarly, the Premium Cooling Efficiency Program provides prescriptive rebates for central air conditioning systems, heat pumps, evaporative coolers and ductwork.

The Energy Efficiency Business Incentives Program offers incentives for improvements that exceed government energy standards for business, industrial and agricultural customers, regardless of size. Funding for conservation improvements is up to 50% of the total project costs and the incentives are based on the amount of direct energy saved. More information about the specific incentive amounts can be found on the program brochure.

The Energy Savings Bid Program offers non-residential customers the opportunity to design a high-efficiency retrofit improvement for their facility and propose an incentive amount from SDG&E. Electric projects should save at least 500,000 kilowatts annually. Incentive amounts and program details are available on the program brochure. Additionally, the Cool Planet Program assists customers in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and attaining energy savings. Up to $15,000 in additional benefits are available if project savings are 250,000 kWh or greater. Contact SDG&E for more information on these offerings.
