Exploration Activity: Rock Sampling At Neal Hot Springs Geothermal Area (Colwell, Et Al., 2012)
|Exploration Activity Details|
|Location||Neal Hot Springs Geothermal Area|
|Exploration Technique||Rock Sampling|
|Activity Date||2011 - 2011|
Geochemical Fingerprinting/XRF whole rock geochemistry was conducted to gain a better understanding of the geology and structure of Neal Hot Springs and the surrounding areas. This study was conducted by a geophysics field camp from the Colorado School of Mines.
Geochemical Fingerprinting/XRF whole rock geochemistry was done in the area surrounding Neal Hot Springs and compared to large scale geologic mapping done in 1994. A revised geologic interpretation was made which calls the area a horst and graben complex with units in stratigraphic succession. The study claims to have significant implications for geophysical techniques and the structure controlling hot springs in the area.
