Ohio Hydropower Transmission & Interconnection(8-OH)

Certificate of Public Good/Certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity (Certificate): A major utility facility may need to obtain a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need from the Ohio Power Siting Board prior to preparing a site for the construction of an electric transmission line. Ohio Rev. Code. § 4906.04; Ohio Rev. Code. § 4906.98(A)
Certificate Regulatory Agency: Ohio Siting Board
Certificate Threshold: Before construction of a "major utility facility," including electric transmission lines and associated facilities with a design capacity of 125 kV or more. Ohio Rev. Code. § 4906.01.
Regulated Entity Definition: A "major utility facility" means an "electric generating plant and associated facilities designed for, or capable of, operation at a capacity of 50 MW or more and transmission lines and associated facilities with a design capacity of 125 kV or more." Ohio Rev. Code. § 4906.01.
Transmission Interconnection Request Process (Interconnection Request): Ohio does not currently have a state specific interconnection request process.
