Permitting at a Glance

Public Utility Certificate: Currently, the RAPID Toolkit does not have state specific content regarding facility licensing or certification for hydropower development in Ohio.
Small Hydropower Program: Ohio does not currently have a small hydropower program.
Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS): Retail electric service providers, excluding municipal utilities and electric cooperatives, must meet annual renewable energy and solar benchmarks to achieve a program mandate of deriving 12.5% of annual retail electricity supply from renewable energy by 2027. Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 4928.64; Ohio Admin. Code 4901:1-40-01.
RPS Eligible Hydropower: Hydroelectric generating facilities located at a dam on a river, or any water discharged to a river, that is within or bordering the state of Ohio or bordering an adjoining state that are in compliance with state environmental laws and standards. Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 4928.01(A)(37)(b); Ohio Rev. Code Ann. § 4928.64.
