RAPIDRegulatory and Permitting Information Desktop Toolkit
My Projects

You can “watch” pages relevant to your permits to stay informed when others update the page. You will get an email notification every time a change is made to a page you are watching showing exactly what was changed and by whom. We encourage agency personnel to “watch" pages relevant to their permits.

To watch a page, log in to your OpenEI account. Go to the page you want to watch, select EDIT at the top, and choose WATCH THIS PAGE at the bottom the page.

Contribute to the RAPID Toolkit

The RAPID Toolkit was created on the OpenEI wiki to continously make edits to content and upload relevant documents. This enables the ever-changing permitting process to stay current and benefit from the people most familiar with the process. Your unique perspective and contributions are vital to the success of the RAPID Toolkit and help facilitate communication between developers and agency personnel at all jurisdiction levels.

How to Contribute to the RAPID Toolkit

There are many ways to contribute to the RAPID Toolkit. You can:

To get started, open an OpenEI account. You only need to do this once.

Add to the Reference Library

The reference library is a collection of links to permits, processes, guidance, manuals, examples, regulations, rules, contacts, and other regulatory and permitting documents that are publicly available on other websites.

To add a document to the library:

  1. Log in to the wiki. If you don’t have an account, sign up.
  2. Go to the Reference Form, add the name of your document and begin entering your details in the form and uploading your document.

Fixing Broken Links If your organization hosts documents in the library, help us out by keeping your links consistent when updating documents. Broken links are indicated with red text. Feel free to log in to update the Web address of any broken link.

Add a Best Practice

The permitting process can be a sometimes confusing, time-consuming part of project development. The best practices section of the RAPID Toolkit aims to help us learn from other's efforts. Please share best practices you have found effective for efficiently permitting your projects.

To contribute a best practice:

  1. Log in to the wiki. If you don’t have an account, sign up.
  2. Go to the Best Practices Form, add the name of your best practice and begin entering your content in the form.

Add to the NEPA Database

The NEPA database houses a document collection, including applications, reports, CX checklists, FONSIs and decision records. It provides analysis of NEPA trends and timelines useful to agencies and industry partners conducting future NEPA analyses.

To contribute NEPA information:

  1. Log in to the wiki. If you don’t have an account, sign up.
  2. Go to the NEPA Form, add the name of your NEPA collection and begin entering your details and uploading your documents.

Add or Update Agency Contact Information

Information about regulatory processes include links to agency contacts. Including important contacts and keeping them current helps facilitate communication.

To add or update your agency contact information:

  1. Log in to the wiki. If you don’t have an account, sign up.
  2. Visit the organization page and select your organization. If your organization does not exist on the page you will need to ADD A NEW ORGANIZATION.
  3. On your organization’s page, select the EDIT WITH FORM button.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the Contacts section and select ADD CONTACT.
  5. To have your contact name appear in the correct section of the Regulatory Flowchart Library, select the ADD RAPID ROADMAP SECTION and enter the code for that section of the flowchart library (for example, 1-MT-a). The code is located next to the title of the page.
