The Tennessee electric grid is part of North American Electric Reliability Corporation’s (NERC) Eastern Interconnection. In Tennessee, SERC Reliability Corporation (SERC) is the regional entities, under NERC, charged with developing reliability standards and monitoring compliance for all owners, operators and users of the bulk electric system. The Tennessee Valley Authority is the primary balancing authority operating and managing the transmission system in the state.
