Illinois Bulk Transmission Land Use Planning(1-IL)
Illinois delegates land use planning to municipalities and counties. The Illinois Local Land Use Management Planning Act (50 I.L.C.S. §§ 805 et seq.) encourages municipalities and counties to “…protect the land, air, water, natural resources and environment of the State…and to use such resources in a manner which is socially and economically desirable through the adoption of joint and compatible Local Land Resource Management Plans.” 50 I.L.C.S. § 805/2.
The developer should contact the appropriate local government to ensure that the proposed transmission project is consistent with planning, zoning, and development regulations.
