Oceana Turbine

This is a open-centered turbine design. It has eight blades that are individually stabilized over the rotating ring. Each blade is designed to balance axial forces exerted by the current flow, and these eight balanced blades on the rotating ring comprise the only moving part in the turbine. The ring rides on magnetic bearings and does not need a gear box to transfer electrical power. The flowing elements of the rotor ring and its blades blend into the rest of the turbine, creating a magnetic system that floats the turbine's one moving part over its chassis. The turbine is supported by either a floating catamaran or a three point gravity stack structure on the seabed.
