Two basic methods have been used to estimate the potential of individual fields: the energy in place method, as developed by Bodvarsson (1974), and the decline curve method, as used in the petroleum industry. Neither of these methods has given very satisfactory results; the energy in place method because of inadequate reservoir data, and the decline curve method due to insufficient production time.
