Mexico-US Forest Service Climate Change Technical Cooperation

From Open Energy Information

"For more than ten years, the US Forest Service has collaborated with the Government of Mexico to provide forest management training and has fostered many opportunities to share the Mexican case study with international groups. The result has often been to inspire innovative incentives that serve multiple purposes: halting deforestation, improving both watershed health and that of local livelihoods."

USFS is engaged with Mexico to: - Transfer tools and analysis to strengthen forest carbon monitoring - Improve policies and practices in protected areas to prepare and respond to climate change - Improve monitoring and management of forest pests and diseases - Reduce catastrophic effects from fire where fire is a threat to forest resources and a sources of emissions.
