Exploration Basis
the purpose of this project was to gain new geophysical data in order to add onto existing data and develop a better understanding of the geothermal area. Ultimately for potential development of EGS. Dixie Valley is being used as a calibration site for future techniques geared toward locating EGS drill sites.
In this survey 70 new tensor MT stations were taken and merged with 24 existing stations. The New MT measurements were made using an L-array with steel plate electrodes, high-moment induction coils, and GPS timing. The company conducting the measurements was Quantec Geoscience Inc. These data are going to be used for an enhanced 3D resistivity interpretation model of the area. The research is being lead by AltaRock Energy Inc. The purpose of this research is to establish a method for evaluating EGS systems using Dixie Valley as a calibration site for the technique. The 3D data inversion revealed intersecting NE-SW low resistivity trends and concentrations of low resistivity appear to be concentrated around the main power production area.
