IMAGE is an global ecological-environmental framework that simulates interactions between society, the biosphere and the climate system to assess sustainability issues like climate change, biodiversity and human well-being.

This tool is included in the Development Impacts Assessment (DIA) Toolkit from the LEDS Global Partnership.


The core application of IMAGE is the development and analysis of scenarios of global environmental change. An objective of the model is to explore the long-term dynamics of global change as the result of interacting demographic, technological, economic, social, cultural, and political factors. IMAGE consists of several connected stand-alone models like TIMER and FAIR. It also uses results from agroeconomic models like LEITAP or IMPACT.
