Global Environment Facility (GEF)

The Global Environment Facility (GEF), headquartered in Washington, D.C., is an independent financial organization, with multiple partnerships, assembled to address global environmental issues.[2]

GEF's partners include: the United Nations Development Programme; the United Nations Environment Programme; the World Bank; the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations; the United Nations Industrial Development Organization; the African Development Bank; the Asian Development Bank; the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development; the Inter-American Development Bank; and the International Fund for Agricultural Development. GEF focuses on protecting the global community from the degradation of biodiversity, the global climate, international waters, land, the ozone layer, and persistent organic pollutants.[2]
