OpenLabs: Accessing Clean Energy Tools, Data, and Expertise across U.S. National Laboratories
Recognizing the need for comprehensive technical assistance to support clean energy pathway development across the globe, the U.S. Government is establishing a network of U.S. National Laboratory experts to provide both targeted and cross-cutting technical assistance to developing country partners. The goal of this effort is to ensure that U.S. technical resources can be readily accessed to support global efforts to combat climate change.
In its full implementation, this U.S. Government initiative will employ a multi-Agency approach to providing needed technical assistance to developing countries on clean energy and responding to new and emerging global climate change policies, priorities and commitments.
With initial funding provided by U.S. AID Climate Office in partnership with the Office of Policy and International Affairs at the U.S. Department of Energy, a team of DOE Laboratory experts will be established to provide analytic and technical services to advance the use of clean energy technologies in developing countries. This team will provide technical assistance to USAID Missions and their partner countries in the analysis, design, and implementation of clean energy GHG mitigation initiatives and projects guided by local needs and priorities.
