Rhode Island's forests cover over half of the state's land area, and are managed by the Department of Environmental Management, Division of Forest Environment. The State issued its "Forest Resources Assessment and Strategies" document in 2010( http://www.dem.ri.gov/programs/bnatres/forest/pdf/assestra.pdf), which lays out the vision, goals, policies, and objectives. Among the myriad goals of the Forest Management Plan is the sustainable use of the forest, including commercial forest products.
