Exploration Activity: Field Mapping At Dixie Valley Geothermal Area (Smith, Et Al., 2001)
|Exploration Activity Details|
|Location||Dixie Valley Geothermal Area|
|Exploration Technique||Field Mapping|
|Activity Date||2000 - 2000|
The purpose of this study was to re-examine faults in the area and develop an improved geologic map of recognized faults and merge these data with available geophysical data and borehole information.
Standard field mapping techniques were conducted in the geothermal area. Infrared aerial photographs were used and all features indicative of faulting were transferred to topographic maps of the area with a 1:24,000 scale, these maps were used to aid in the field work. Data from seismic reflection and gravity surveys was also used to correlate structural features identified during the field mapping.
