The broad-ranging Environmental Protection Act has sections on waste management, air quality, environmental assessment, and hazardous or polluting substances. The act establishes the framework for the environmental regulations for the province, and establishes authorities, mandates inspections, assessments and reviews, and sets the legal pathways for appeals and penalties.
