Duke Energy’s Low-Income Weatherization Program is offered through a partnership with the state of Indiana. The program is designed to provide energy-saving installations and energy education at no cost to customers who qualify for the weatherization or heating bill assistance as part of the state or federal programs. Only those measures that are critical to the efficiency of the structure and its effect on the health and safety of the occupants shall be provided. The following is a list of the measures:

  • Compact Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  • Faucet aerators
  • Energy-efficient shower heads
  • Water heater jackets
  • Pipe insulation
  • Caulking
  • Weather stripping
  • Foam seal
  • Outlet gaskets
  • Door sweeps
  • Duct mastic to reduce infiltration in the home Attic/wall insulation

Duke Energy can also swap out low-income residents' old, inefficient refrigerators with new Energy Star rated refrigerators through their Refrigerator Replacement Program. This program is offered through a partnership with the state of Indiana and Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville, Indiana. To see if they qualify, Duke Energy customers can contact their local Indiana Community Action Agency at 1-800-382-9895, or visit their website.
