Journal Article: Cooling History of the Valles Caldera, New Mexico Using ESR Dating Method
Abstract
ESR dating was made at the Valles caldera by using the Al center and Ti center in quartz grains separated from the layers of the Valles Rhyolite. Obtained ESR ages were much younger than those by other methods (fission track and 39Ar- 40Ar). A reported thermal event of about 10-40 ka ago might explain the difference between the above ages.- Authors
