COP 18 Side Event Biography
Ron Benioff serves as Manager of Multilateral Programs for the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). In this capacity he manages NREL’s work on clean energy and environmental and climate initiatives with international agencies and countries in all regions of the world. This includes serving as director of the LEDS Global Partnership Secretariat and of the Green Growth Best Practices Initiative and providing senior management leadership of the Clean Energy Solutions Center, a Clean Energy Ministerial initiative.
Dr. Fernando Farias is GHG Inventory and Mitigation Oicer at the Climate Change Office of the Ministry of Environment of Chile. He was in charge of preparing Chile´s 2nd National Communication on C. Change to the UNFCCC and currently is the technical coordinator of the LECB-Chile project.
Stephen Gold is the Head and Principal Technical Advisor for UNDP's Green Low Emission and Climate Resilient Development Strategies unit. In this capacity, he manages a global team that is supporting countries to develop or strengthen LEDS and LECRDS, advance climate resilient livelihoods, strengthen climate early warning systems for climate resilient development and access climate finance. He has over 25 years of professional experience in the field of environment, energy and development working with the U. N. Development Programme (2000-2012) the U. N. Institute for Training and Research (1991-1999), the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, state and local governments and the private sector (1983-1990). Stephen holds a Masters Degree in public policy, governance and development and a Bachelors Degree in International Development.
Jeremy Webb is a Statistician at the African Climate Policy Centre (ACPC) of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa. Jeremy has worked on modeling climate negotiations and development outcomes, the green economy, climate change and health, Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions (NAMAs) and Measurement Reporting and Verification (MRV) while undertaking other activities in support of the establishment of the ACPC and ClimDev Africa Programme. Jeremy has also led the establishment of the African Climate and Development Society (ACD-Soc) and is a member of the Low Emissions Development Strategies (LEDS) Global Partnership (GP) Steering Committee.
