Exploration Activity: Thermal Gradient Holes At North Brawley Geothermal Area (Edmunds & W., 1977)
|Exploration Activity Details|
|Location||North Brawley Geothermal Area|
|Exploration Technique||Thermal Gradient Holes|
|Activity Date||1977 - 1977|
|Usefulness||useful regional reconnaissance|
Well log data, thermal gradient holes, and magnetic measurements were all correlated to make a detailed geologic assessment of the North Brawley, Heber, East Mesa, and Salton Sea Geothermal Areas.
Well logs, thermal gradient data, and magnetic data were correlated to form a better geologic understanding of geothermal areas within Imperial Valley. From these studies an estimate of 20,000 MW of potential geothermal energy (4500 MW of which can be feasibly utilized) exists in Imperial Valley.
