Core samples from SOH-1 were analyzed for geochronology. Dating was done using the unspiked K-Ar technique also known as the Cassignol technique. This method was chosen because the rocks are geologically young and it was the best known method for young rocks. Potassium was analyzed by atomic flame emission spectrophotometry. Argon was released by using radio frequency induction heating then measured by mass spectrometry. Fourteen samples throughout the core were analyzed.
