Resistivity mapping of the Imperial Valley was conducted as a multi-disciplinary approach for evaluating geothermal potential within the valley. The trigger for this push in geophysical studies in Imperial Valley is due to the success of a geothermal power plant at the southern part of Imperial Valley in Cerro Prieto, Mexico.
Schlumberger depth soundings were conducted across Imperial Valley. Useful information was gathered from depths down to 2438 m. 59 depth soundings conducted, a few of which were in the North Brawley Geothermal Area. An inverse Schlumberger electrode configuration was used throughout this study. Major resistivity low anomaly's were recognized at the North Brawley, Salton Sea, and East Mesa Geothermal Area's.
