New Brunswick Transmission System Agreement (8-NB-d)
Pursuant to the S.N.B. 2013, c. E-4.6, s. 82, no person other than the Corporation may construct any new facilities used to provide transmission services in New Brunswick. However, the Corporation may, with the approval of the Lieutenant Governor of New Brunswick, enter into a Transmission System Agreement with a developer for the purpose of developing the New Brunswick transmission system. S.N.B. 2003, c. E-4.6, s. 84.
In addition, the New Brunswick Electricity Act, S.N.B. 2013, c. E-4.6 amalgamated the Corporation with the New Brunswick Transmission and System Operator Division (TSO Division) S.N.B. 2013, c. E-4.6, s. 1, 3. The TSO Division owns and operates the transmission system used to carry electricity from generating stations and other supply sources. New Brunswick – Transmission and System Operator Division Webpage. The TSO Division has the authority to enter into interconnection agreements (Connection Approvals) with owners or operators of transmission systems in other jurisdictions. If a Transmission System Agreement is entered into with the Corporation, a developer may need a Connection Approval through the TSO Division to connect new or materially modified transmission facilities or connections to the IES.
